Great news from the 2025 Dakar Classic Rally!
Tomek Staniszewski and Stanislaw Postawka of the P-Rally team have achieved something special! At the wheel of the legendary Porsche 924, they took 4th place in the general classification. This is a huge success that will go down in the history of this demanding rally. 🏆
During the two-week competition, they covered more than 7,000 kilometers of challenging desert trails. Their Porsche 924, equipped with rear-wheel drive, proved that with passion and indomitable will, almost anything can be achieved. By comparison, the next rear-wheel-drive car only finished the rally in 70th place. This underscores what an exceptional design the 924 is, with its transaxle system for ideal weight distribution.
The success of this crew began with the bold idea of returning the Porsche 924 to the Dakar routes after more than 40 years. “Surfari,” as the car was named, underwent a thorough modernization. It was equipped with a modern 2.5-liter engine, an improved transmission and a modified suspension to cope with the extreme conditions of the desert.
On the rally route, Tomek and Stanislaw faced a variety of challenges – from scorching sun ☀ and endless dunes 🐪, to torrential downpours 🌧 and dense fog 🌫, to clouds of dust 💨
and sharp rocks. In spite of these difficulties, their Porsche coped admirably, and its low weight and excellent balance allowed them to gain the upper hand on the fast sections.
